Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)

Taking a Look at the Catholic Church

Will you join us on this journey?

WHAT IS IT?
The RCIA is the process by which men and women become members of the Catholic Church. Because the process is ongoing, people begin whenever the Spirit moves them to inquire. There is no formal “start.” The RCIA goes on within the context of the parish community and, after a suitable period of formation, culminates in the reception of the Sacraments of Initiation.

A Faith Journey
·         An ongoing process
·         Continuing exploration of discipleship
·         Searching together with other adults

WHO SHOULD CONSIDER RCIA?
The process of Christian initiation is for adults who are...
Interested in learning more about the Catholic Church
·         Unbaptized, seeking Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist or searching for spirituality in your life
·         Baptized, but have never received any formal religious education or completed the sacraments of initiation, Confirmation and Eucharist
·         Married to a Catholic and you attend Mass with them, and you want to share in their faith
·         Seeking something in your life, but are not sure what it is

HOW DOES IT WORK?
In a friendly and informal atmosphere you are invited to reflect on your own life experiences in the light of the Scripture readings for the week.  We spend time in Faith Sharing and we begin to build a community of believers.  At the Easter Vigil, you will become part of the larger community of Church of the Holy Spirit, and the world-wide community of Catholic Christians.

WHAT IS THE TIME FRAME?
We meet on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. from mid-September through April. We also participate in special rites at the week-end Masses.  These rites are steps toward the celebration of the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist at the Easter Vigil.

WHAT IS NEEDED?
Registration and Fee of $75.00. Regular attendance and participation.
